This year we have more sports than ever for the Spring Fling with a focus on TEAM competition.  Individual sports are still a part of the event, but will be competed in a team format.  This year we have also taken our slogan, “Where Business Meets Sport” one step further to include companies in the competition.  Now we offer you the chance to network on and off the field in an informal atmosphere revolving around sport and competition.

All sports will be played at INEFC in Montjuïc Park, home of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.  Medals and awards will be presented to winning teams and overall competition winners will be announced during the closing ceremony on Sunday.

Below you will find an attached sports schedule and a brief description of the rules, contacts and scoring system for each sport. This is only intended as an overview. Each coordinator(s) (from IESE) is responsible for running their event. They should contact your team captain before the event with more detailed information. Badminton
Coordinator: Ashish Jhajharia
Basic Rules: 1 team per school, 4 people per team (i.e. 2 x doubles) with 1 woman per team, round robin and then knockout stages, no rackets provided
Scoring System: Standard badminton scoring

Basketball

Basic Rules: 5 people per team, 12 per squad, 1 woman on court at all times, only 1 team per school, round robin and knockout stages
Scoring System: Victory = 3, Tie = 1, Loss = 0

Chess

Basic Rules: Individual timed matches, round robin and then knockout phases
Scoring System: Victory = 3, Tie = 1, Loss = 0

Cricket

Scoring System: Victory = 3, Tie = 1, loss = 0

Cross Country (4 x 2.6k around the Olympic Park)

Basic Rules: Approx. 2.6km course in Olympic park, individual & mixed team race (3 men / 1 women)
Scoring system: Prizes 1st, 2nd, 3rd Men/Women/Team. Team scores will be the lowest sum of positions.

Rugby – Men

Salsa

Basic Rules: Teams of 2 to 5 pairs, dance to salsa music no longer than 5 minutes.
Scoring System: Team graded on choreography, performance, originality, technique, esthetic & flow. 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes.

Swimming
Coordinator: Prisque Lemble
Basic Rules: 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle, 100m IM, 4×50m freestyle relay, 4×50m medley relay.                                                                                                                                                                                         Scoring System: Prizes 1st, 2nd, 3rd, team competition based on lowest sum of positions

Table Tennis
Coordinator: Marco Carniello
Basic Rules: Singles and doubles matches, best of 3 sets, round robin and then knockout phases
Scoring System: Victory = 3, tie = 1, loss = 0

Tennis

Basic Rules: Teams of 4 people = 2 x doubles, (min. 1 woman per team), 3 sets, round robin tournament, best of 3 sets, no rackets provided.

Tug of War

Basic Rules: 8-12 people per team (minimum 3 women), round robin tournament and then final.
Scoring System: Pull your opposition team over the “goal” line to win.

Ultimate Frisbee

Basic Rules: 6 players per team (minimum 1 female), half pitch matches, round robin tournament and then knockout phases
Scoring System: Victory = 3, Tie = 1, loss = 0

Volleyball / Beach Volleyball
